Project 365 Goes to the Aquarium, Etc.

I finished my goal of reading fifty books this month. I made it to Mystic Aquarium. I saw Catching Fire. I threw a great party with my even greater boyfriend. It's been a good week and a half. And tomorrow I fly home to Kansas City to see friends and family! This really is the best time of year.

Day 137: I always cry when I read THE GIVER. A lot...

Day 138: Waiting to see Catching Fire...

Day 139: I threw a party. Check out the homemade spread!

Day 140: My new best friend--a talking Beluga Whale.

Day 141: My supervisor got me a Christmas present. She's so sweet.

Day 143: Beautiful frogs at the Hygienic Art Gallery display.

Day 144: The rest of the Christmas presents I ordered for folks arrived!

Day 145: Me with my new work buddy. Thanks, Jessie. :)

See everyone next week. Happy holidays, one and all!

Project 365 Gets a Nasty Bug

It's been approximately 100 days since I moved to New England. All this time, a little voice in the back of my head kept reminding me that at some point I would encounter new germs. last I did. May I just say, the germs up here are nasty!
So prepare yourself for some boring sick pics and for lots of Christmas prep pics!

Day 128: I've wanted to visit Mystic Aquarium since moving here. I love aquariums! My good friend, Jessie, is making that possible.

Day 129: I actually can't take credit for this picture, but I loved it so much, I wanted to post it. We hung and stuffed our stockings! Guess which is mine. Hint: It's not R2-D2. ;)

Day 130: I've been creeping around the neighborhood taking shots of beautifully decorated Christmas homes lately. Here's one of them.

Day 131: I went to the Christmas parade in Niantic this past weekend. This was my favorite float--the food drive!

Day 132: I got another ornament for my Christmas tree. What can I say? I really do love Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony.

Day 133: Christmas treats! Yum!

Day 134: And...the nasty germs hit hard. On the day my aunt came to visit from Oregon, no less. Plus, I missed the mid-year AmeriCorps retreat. The timing couldn't have been worse.

Day 135: On the second day of being sick, I got up the energy to snap a pic of our first real snowfall for the year.

Day 136: Third day, and I'm finally recovering. I even ventured outside and was greeted by a blast of frigid air.

That's the past week's posts, plus a couple, since I'm late getting this posted. I hope everyone else is enjoying the holiday season and staying well. I'll see you next week!

Project 365 Celebrates Thanksgiving with Big Guns

This past week, I got to celebrate Thanksgiving with new family in a new state. I also got to take some much needed time to relax--and completely rearrange my apartment. I went Christmas tree shopping and set up a beautiful tree as well. Since it's now December, I've been obsessively listening to Christmas music, watching Christmas movies, buying Christmas presents, etc. I should mention, I love this holiday, so be forewarned!

Here are the latest pictures!

Day 120: After a crazy week of Thanksgiving dinner distributions through the food pantry, I'm kicking my feet up.

Day 121: This is how my adopted family celebrates Thanksgiving in CT.

Day 122: Thanksgiving Day Two, this time at my apartment building. By the way, those mashed potatoes were the best I have ever had in my life...

Day 123: I gave C-kins Pokemon X as an early Christmas present. I don't think she's stopped playing yet. Other items of note: 1. The delicious hot chocolate/coffee mix on the end table. 2. Men in Black and Ghostbusters on the TV.

Day 124: Christmas tree shopping! Aren't we the cutest best friends?

Day 125: The Christmas tree in all its glory. If you see the red string behind our heads, that's the ornament of Clarence the cat as a kitten.

Day 126: Nope. I didn't get fired. I'm getting an office upgrade!

Day 127: The view from my new office. Pretty spiffy, if I do say so myself...

In other news, I'm hooked on My Little Pony. I had this memory of Pinkie Pie being incredibly irritating, so when a friend told me I reminded her of Pinkie, I was insulted. However, upon watching the show, I agree with her--random, crazy-haired, constantly excited, amused by anything. Yep, I'm Pinkie Pie. I also got to see the Day of the Doctor special. I'm so excited for the next season of Doctor Who to come out.

I'm still waiting to see Catching Fire, so please, no spoilers!

I came up with a story idea that I'm pretty hooked on. Now, for the time to write it. Thankfully work has settled down, and I should have my mornings free to write again.

See you next week!

Project 365 Catches Up

These last two week of the semester have been the busiest since I started working. As such, this post will be really long. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Day 105: One of my Spotify playlists.

Day 106: One of my students imitating a supervisor. They always know how to make me laugh!

Day 107: Admiring more great artwork. I wish I could share a picture of each piece from the gallery.

Day 108: The Emily Dickinson house in in MA. What a beautiful place.

Day 109: Some of the best pizza in New London.

Day 110: Enjoying a tapas bar for the first time.

 Day 111: New winter clothes!

Day 112: Mac'n'cheese pizza. NOTHING BETTER IN THE WORLD.

Day 113: Okay, maybe hot chocolate/coffee with fresh cinnamon is better than pizza...

Day 114: Did you know tonic water glows under black lights?

Day 115: Shopping for TRCC's Thanksgiving dinners. We filled up the whole truck.

Day 116: Artichoke and quinoa. So delish...

Day 117: Starting prep for TRCC's Thanksgiving dinner pick-up.

Day 118: We at TRCC served over 40 families complete Thanksgiving dinners this year!

Day 119: In this picture, I may be the happiest I've ever been.

And that's it for this Project 365 post! Happy Thanksgiving to everybody. I'll see you next week!

Project 365 goes to Yankee Candle Village

Up here in New England, the weather is changing fast. We had our first snow shower this week, and the treetops are bare of leaves. Work is a blur, as well, as we prepare for the holidays. This Thanksgiving, we're excited to be feeding 25 families (at least) full Thanksgiving dinners. It's a big process, but the payoff is so worth it.

But enough talking! Here are this week's pictures:

Day 98: My plant baby grew a new shoot! I love it so much.

Day 99: I finally got my phone back! It looks a little different now, so the resale value is probably shot. But it's unique, like me.

Day 100: Watching Despicable Me 2! It was so cute!

Day: 101: Enjoying cappuccino at Judie's in Amherst, MA. This place is famous for a reason.

Day 102: Cappuccino again! I'm addicted.

Day 103: The first snowfall of fall 2013 in CT!

Day 104: Best date this year: 11/12/13.

In other news, I'm on to reading THE SHELTERING SKY. Bowles is brilliant, and I find myself making lots of notes in the margins. Does Port strike anyone else as a little psychopathic though? And Kit's no normal chick, herself.

I watched the original version of THE GREAT GATSBY over the weekend. Seeing the beginning made me appreciate the book anew as well as see Nick's evolution in a different light. I loved how close the director stuck to the book. Lots of lines came straight out of it, which I really enjoyed.

I'm also watching United States of Tara, which is a Showtime show. It's great! Much different than SYBIL, if you're familiar with multiple personalities.

Project 365 Writes an Emergency Post

I promised to update with the pictures I missed when my phone broke. So here they are!

Day 78: Flowers. That's how I start fall. :)

Day 79: Chocolate chip bacon cookies. Don't knock 'em till you try 'em.

Day 80: The guidebook for Pokemon X and Y came out. It's already filled with my notes and strategies.

Day 81: My VISTA supervisor at TRCC takes such good care of me!

We're officially caught up. See you next Wednesday. Enjoy your weekends in the meantime!

Project 365 Catches Snorlax

Another week in the life of Project 365 has come and gone. Do you remember the midnight release of Pokemon X and Y a few weeks ago? Well, this week, I caught a real-live Snorlax! And I celebrated Halloween as Batwoman.

Enjoy these pics.

Day 91: Practicing my Halloween faces.

 92: It's Halloween, and we're terrifying.

Day 93: Halloween candy haul. I've been munching all day...

Day 94: Amazing piece of artwork at a local coffee shop.

Day 95: Working on my NaNoWriMo novel.

Day 96: It's a Snorlax, and I caught him in a Master Ball! See also assorted teas and chocolate.

Day 97: Twinsies! And we didn't even plan it.

In other news, I'm nearly 10k into my NaNoWriMo novel, and I've decided to start over from scratch. I've...found I can't write something that I'm not passionate about. Right now, I'm not passionate about lesbian erotica. I'm more into fighting and exploring poverty in our modern age.

I've had six poems published this week as well. We'll be seeing them in print soon. More details on that as soon as I have them.

This weekend I'm headed to New Hampshire with some dear friends in AmeriCorps. We're going to climb Mount Washington. And I have the date of my marathon: April 21 of 2014. I'm currently battling some intense leg and ankle pain, but I hope to be back on my game in a few days.

That's all for this week! See you soon.
